First let me explain article marketing for those that do not know what it is. Lets say your website is about widgets. You write an article on interesting ways people can use widgets.

In the footer of your article there is an author bio section. In the author bio section you place links to your website about widgets.

You submit that article to as many article directories as possible. You can use a service www.isnare.com ISnare.com who for two dollars per article will submit your article to hundreds of article directories.

Once you submit to all of those directories, remember the link in the author bio section, each of those directories is now a one-way inbound link.

Now none of those links is related to widgets, so they are not relative links, but they do still count for link popularity, just not as much as relative links do.

But the second reason that article directories exist is to provide free content to website owners. These website owners can take your article and use it as content for their website as long as they leave the links in the author bio section active and intact.

Article Marketing Doesn’t Work. That is exactly what some old-time experienced SEO people are still saying. Yet, one of the clients I wrote articles for went from a link popularity of 1 to a link popularity of 457 in 8 days.

I received an email today from a client I wrote an article for on “Free Credit Repair” 3 days ago. He did a search in Google today for “Free Credit Repair” and the article was in the top 100. Tough category, but it was written 3 days ago and appears in Google for his search term with links to his website.

I can continue to provide dozens of examples where article marketing works and works fast. Once those articles are picked up by other websites besides the article directories, the real benefit comes.

Those websites that pick up and use the widget articles as content for their websites would not use the article if it were not related to their own topic, which means related to widgets in this case. That means relative one-way inbound links for your website.

If you have no use for quick link popularity and relative one-way inbound links to your website, then article marketing is not for you.

Advertising had long since been a major determinant of a business’ success. This would include the presentation of the product / service to the consumers. What really matters is how it is presented to the target market to be able to capture it.

Whatever the package, the ad media also plays a great role in determining the success of the product or service awareness.

What may be its advantages over other proven medium like the best-selling TV ads?

Advantages

1. Low Cost

Eventhough the Internet ad might be viewed as “classy” or far-reaching, as compared to other medium, this is far cheaper than most. Internet Ad Packages are offered for as low as $29.99 for a one-month run-time period.

2. Capture market

Should your product / service aim to cater to the younger generation or the corporate-oriented ones, Internet ad would be best since they would always be “hooked-up” into the net surfing sites that might have a link to your very own. Result, a great number of “hits” on your site!

2. Hassle free

All you would ever really need is a PC (and some knowledge and bright ideas in forming your site) wherein you could open your site, search for the best Internet Ad package, and check / update the status of your ad. You may actually never have to leave your home to advertise!

3. Updated ads

Unlike the TV ads that need to be updated on a regular basis, Internet ads may run for quite some time without the need for change. If so, change in the site is very minimal and may be done easily at home.

Disadvantages

1. Scope
Limited market may be captured if one would solely use the Internet Ad for advertising. Although most people now are into the use of technology, i.e. surfing the Internet, still, majority of the average consumers still relies on the old form of advertising as a means of gathering information about certain products / service.

2. Additional cost

If one would enlist the help of another professional or establishment to produce the site for their product or service, this would entail additional costs on the part of the entrepreneur.

Given the stated list of advantages and disadvantages about low-coast Internet Ad, an entrepreneur may now weigh in its applicability to his / her product or service.

The aim of Internet ad is to offer the widest range or “Maximum Exposure” of the brand at the least possible cost. Now, does that not sound good or what?

One of the single most powerful and free ways to grab targeted traffic is definitely writing articles. Articles like this that you are currently reading serve many purposes.

Firstly, it establishes your position as an “authority” of the subject and also increases your brand name (or your name for the matter). Secondly, the link that is attached at the author resources box is intimately related to this content you are reading. People are more likely to buy after they are “warmed up” to the idea. This is called “pre-selling”. Thirdly, it builds up many one way links thus pushing up traffic and increasing your status amongst search engines. Now tell me why this isn’t a great tool?

How do you go about it? Well say you are promoting an article submission software. Naturally you should write an article on article submission and offer some useful and insightful tips. Churn out at least 2 articles a day submitting it to at least 5 article directories for a month everyday. This is such a powerful method of getting sales.

Which article directories to submit to?
There are thousands out there! For starters you can take down the address of this article directory. Hey I submitted my article here so it must have worked!

Remember this is a totally free medium to get high quality traffic. There are many software out there that instantly submit your articles to hundreds of directory saving you the hassle of doing it yourself if you find it too tedious.

Another method is to participate actively in forums. Again the benefits are quite obvious. You gain tons of back links and you also gain credibility in your niche within the community. This is again, a great way to brand yourself. Remember to genuinely contribute and make intelligent discussion – people will tend to look at your signature more.

Next is to develop a powerful signature with a link to your website in it. Many people overlook this point; your signature is the ‘link’ between the forums’ traffic and your site. That having said, these are not the only ways which you can get free targeted traffic. There are many more ways! Do your research and start exploding your sales.

Yahoo inc, the California-based search engine, announced recently that it has purchased BlueLithium, the fifth largest online ad network in the U.S. for $300 million, in with the goal of cornering the ever popular market of behavioral ad targeting.

With this deal, Yahoo’s current behavioral ad targeting efforts, aimed primarily at users of Yahoo mail and Yahoo travel, will be strengthened by BlueLithium’s tracking technology, designed to zero in on consumer preferences as they navigate a site, which allowed for a more focused targeting of ad delivery by a business or, in this case, a search engine.

This tracking ability is made possible by the use of cookies—small packets of data that record user visits and habits on certain sites, and over time, make it possible for Web sites to target their ads to specific demographics within their consumer base.

According to Yahoo News (news.yahoo.com) senior vice president of the Yahoo Publisher Network, Todd Teresi, responded to this purchase of the three year-old, invitation-only BlueLithium network via telephone by saying that this (purchase) “will give us (Yahoo) the ability to (deliver) more relevant advertising to consumers not only on the Yahoo network but also off of the network.”

Yahoo’s user base of over 250 million is expected to greatly expand, with the addition of BlueLithium’s nearly 120 million users, and the geo-targeting capabilities of the new tracking technology will allow said users to connect to online customer segments, featuring marketers that offer products and services tailored to their particular interests, and in some cases, location.

Search Engine Optimization, which targets the behavior of Internet users via the use of searched keywords and other related methods, will likely see benefits from this newer type of behavioral marketing technology, since it will provide a clear, more defined scope of an individual’s search preferences and favorite sites.

It is reported that this acquisition of BlueLithium is expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of this year, pending regulatory approval and other conditions.

There are several ways how to get more clients and earn more money. In this article I will introduce you some of them.

1. Affiliate marketing:
Affiliate marketing consist in relationship between web site owners and merchant. Web site owners put merchants advertisement (usually text link or banner) on their page and merchant pays commission from each deal to the site owner. The advantage of this promotion method is the fact that you can never loose your money for inefficient advertising because you pay only in case you earn some money. If you want to start your own affiliate program you can buy one of many available scripts or use some of affiliate networks like Link Share or Commission Junction.

2. Search engine optimization (SEO):
Search engine optimization is one of the most effective (and one of the hardest) ways how to get the large number of very good targeted customers. If you are a search engine optimization specialist, make a SEO analysis and optimize your web site for some effective keywords. If you know nothing about SEO try to find some basic information on Internet and optimize for easy keywords or hire some SEO company. The advantage of search engine optimization is the fact that you get the visitors who want to buy the goods (or services) which you offer. The disadvantage is the long time necessary for successful optimization.

3. Pay per click (PPC):
There are several search engines offering pay per click program. Advertiser choose the keyword and the bid. If the visitor search for this keyword, advertisements targeted for this keyword are displayed. If more advertisers select the same keyword the advertisements are sorted by the bid (except google AdWords, there the advertisement position depends on the bid and click rate). The big advantage of pay per click system is the fact that you can start your campaign during a few minutes.

4. Banner exchanges:
You include a HTML code to your web site and each time somebody visits the site where the HTML code is placed a banner will be displayed and you get some credits (usually 1/2 – 1 credit depending on the exchange ratio). For each credit you “earn” your banner will be displayed on another banner exchange members page. This type of promotion is good for branding but it will increase your traffic just about 0,1 – 1 % only (depending on click rate of your banner) so always combine this method with another strategies.

5. Promotional coupon codes:
Everybody is happy for a free gift or some discount and a lot of online marketers take advantage of this fact. So why don’t make your customers happy too? There are many promotional coupon code directories on Internet. Put your coupon code to most of these web sites. Try combination of promotional coupon codes strategy and affiliate marketing. Give away to your publishers promo codes or special affiliate link. If the visitor click this link he gets some discount, free gift, free shipping or another benefits.

There are more than a hundred websites; in fact the number of website is exploding exponentially. If there were only a hundred Web sites, you might think they would each get a lot more attention, but that’s not the case. If there only a hundred web sites, no one would bother surfing the Web at all. It’s the large number of sites covering a large range of topics that has caused hundreds of millions of people to go online.

Web presence is not a zero sum game. That’s a term that economist use to describe a situation where one person making a gain means that someone else is making a loss. Instead, the more people who play the Internet game, that surf and interact online, , the more audience and money there is to go around. Because of this, other sites aren’t the enemy. Other sites are your friend.

Here in Toronto, there is a district that seems to be saturated with computer stores. You can get computer parts at great prices. There is intense competition, as the different stores compete on price, on the latest technology, on selection and quality. If you think about it, these shops are all cooperating. Even if the owners of the shop never speak to each other, even if they despise one another, they make the district the place to go for computer parts. And by offering such a huge selection overall, they make sure that anyone looking for a part is sure to find it there – no matter how obscure. In contrast, the shopper at an unattached computer store may not find the desired part.

The stores are in competition, but competition and cooperation are not mutually exclusive. If you start an online site offering currency trading education and three other sites do the same, you are in competition with them. However your real competition is the similar educational tools in brick & mortar bookstores. If people start thinking that the web is the best place of tried and true trading strategies, then it helps you all.

All that is passive cooperation. It doesn’t require anyone to directly make plans with anyone else. Most of the active cooperation you are likely to be involved in will be with sites that are not offering exactly the same products and services that you are. Instead, you should try cooperating with sites that share the same audience but different products. A site that offers Country music may cooperate with a site that sells Cowboys hats.

The overall point is that there is a large ocean of potential clients out there, and when you cooperate with others trying to fish in this ocean, you increase your chances of success. Better to have 1% of a billion dollar market than 100% of a million dollar market.

Think about working together with others online – learn from people who are doing what you want to do. The internet market is still growing – in both the number of users, but even the current users’ willingness to engage in commerce online. Be a part of it – even if it’s a small part, the rewards will blow your mind.

When someone starts an online business, and many do, they tend to think that they know what they are doing. In other words, they don’t have a clue. Everyone keep telling them that they need a nice looking website, throw some affiliate programs on it, advertise at free classifieds pages, and watch the money roll in. Easy money, right? That’s what they think.

“I don’t need anyone to show me how to do this. It shouldn’t be hard at all. Actually, it should be a walk in the park.” Many people probably think like that. So they advertise here and there. Free classifieds. Free advertising. Maybe some forum posting every day. Free traffic, right?

A few days go by. Then a few weeks go by and they only made about $30 in sales in one month. Many continue to do this and think that if they keep doing the same thing, maybe a miracle will happen.

Not so……

It so very true that the online work at home arena is highly competitive. If you are doing the same thing and keep getting the same results over and over again, not only are you killing your potential for online success, but you are allowing other competitors to pass you by. The only thing that you need to do is to stop and find someone who is already succeeding with their online business. Become like an investigator. Investigate what they do EXACTLY on a daily basis that created that wealth for them.

Here are a few good pointers on what you can do to succeed online:

1) Start Getting Educated……

Again, find someone who is very successful online and see what they are doing on a daily basis that creates their success. Do some detailed research online as to what methods and techniques are working for them and others. You can not succeed if you keep associating yourself with people who aren’t successful online. So you need to take yourself by the hands and start to associate with successful online friends.

2) You need an Auto-responder…..

Before I go into explaining this subject, it is important that you know that you will want to work with an opt in email subscribers who will come to your site and give you their personal permission to send them periodic emails. What you will not want to do is to buy email subscribers. If you do buy them and send them your emails, then this can kill you and your online reputation.

Having and opt-in email list will allow you to free up lots of your time because your prospects will be receiving messages from you periodically and automatically. The nice thing about email marketing is that instead of you having to call them each time you want to promote something, which will take you forever, your auto-responder system will be working for you while you go out and have fun.

Imagine having an opt in list of 10,000 subscribers. If you were to call each one of them to promote one of your programs, think how long it will take you to reach all of them. It would be impossible for you. With email, you can contact them all in a matter of a few seconds or minutes. You write one email and hit the “submit” button, and you are all done.

“If I don’t get an auto-responder and email subscribers, will this cut my chances of succeeding online?”

I am not saying that it will, but if you do get one, your income will just keep growing all the time as your subscribers do.
3) Find a mentor

After you find someone who is very successful online, email them and tell them that you will want to work with them one on one if it is possible. Don’t try going into their training thinking that you know it all. Listen and follow each guideline that they are recommending to you.

This person will be your mentor. Your coach and most of all, your friend.

By stepping out and trying a proven way to make money online, you will begin to see that you too can make a nice income online. And the best advice that I can also give you is to never ever give up. A lot of people are making nice incomes online and so can you. Believe in yourself and you will succeed.

Privacy is a right most people practice everyday. It’s why bathrooms have doors and locks, cubicles at the library are constructed to block out the glances of other patrons, voting laws that allow you to cast a ballot anonymously exist, and commuters don’t sit on your lap in the subway (unless it’s really crowded, of course!) So it’s no surprise that people expect a certain amount of privacy when surfing the Internet. In fact, many people think their online activities are entirely anonymous – after all, no one can see you in the World Wide Web, right?

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Internet browsing is not necessarily anonymous, even though it may seem to be. First of all, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has the ability to log all the sites your IP (Internet Protocol) address visits. Your IP address is how your computer is identified every time you log on to the Internet. Secondly, the actual websites you visit can easily track your IP address and log it for future reference. Your IP address doesn’t specify your actual name, but it’s not difficult for the owner of a particular website to link your IP address to your ISP.

It’s safe to assume most Internet surfers value anonymity online because that is what makes the Internet a unique experience. For the first time in history, people from around the world with access to a computer have been able to connect to each other, communicate, and share information without having to disclose personal information. On the Internet your alias is your identity. It is this opportunity to remain anonymous that has allowed many people to practice freedom of speech and use the Internet as a tool of expression.

If used for legitimate activities, the Internet creates a forum in which the average person can correspond with other people who share similar interests and discuss issues that might be cause for embarrassment, reprimand, or persecution in other circles. For instance, using a pseudonym allows the individual to be creative, lets concerned citizens voice discontent over corporate practices, and makes it possible for mistreated minorities to express their feelings and discuss topics related to their experience without fear of reprisal. As a source of information, the Internet is also a good place to research sensitive topics, such as hair loss, without having to reveal your identity. It’s easy to see why people might want to protect their anonymity in the virtual world.

You might want to remain anonymous online for other reasons as well. Some people require protection from the government, employers, or corporations. Businesses use anonymous surfing to research their competition incognito, while lawyers use it to visit websites that will help him/her make a strong case for a client without disclosing their conduct to the party under scrutiny, which could compromise a case. The average person wants to surf anonymously just to avoid the prying eyes of nosy websites and aggressive marketing companies.

So how do you surf anonymously? The only way to keep your browsing habits under lock and key is to hide your IP address using anonymous web browsing technology. Anonymous web browsing entails the use of a proxy server, which is placed between you and the website you are visiting. Essentially, your web browser “talks” to the proxy server (instead of directly to the website) and the proxy server then “talks” to the website, shielding your IP address from view. The website only sees the proxy server. Just make sure you choose a proxy server you trust because the proxy server will know your IP address.

Although all methods of anonymous surfing involve the use of a proxy server, there are several ways to go about it. The first method works through another website. You simply visit the website of the proxy server and then type the URL of the site you want to browse. You’ll then be taken to the website through the proxy server.

Another method requires that you download a client application. This is a program that handles everything, regarding the proxy server, on your behalf so you don’t have to worry about anything except browsing.

An anonymous web proxy service is another way to remain anonymous online. With this method you have to configure your browser to point to an anonymous web proxy, but once this has been accomplished your browsing experience should be relatively hassle-free. These services are public and exist for the sole purpose of anonymous surfing by proxy.

You can also set up your web browser to surf through your choice of an anonymous server – the difference here is that an anonymous server does not advertise as a web proxy service. Instead, you can find lists of these servers published on the Internet. Another difference: you might not know who is running the service, and as a result, the server could potentially record your web traffic.

If you choose to employ a web proxy service, here are some things to look out for:

1. A reputable service should set up a TLS or SSL tunnel for you. This means network sniffers won’t be able to eavesdrop on your surfing habits.

2. Choose a service that supports the protocols you want to use. Some services offer FTP, while others only support HTTP. Some also offer HTTPS, but not all.

3. A good proxy service should do more than just hide your IP address. It should also remove traffic such as cookies, scripts, pop-ups, banners, and referrer information. Just make sure you have the option to configure these elements so that websites for which you need to use cookies and pop-ups won’t be rendered unusable.

No matter how you choose to surf the web anonymously, you’ll surely rest easy knowing that your privacy isn’t being compromised every time you log on.

Anyone who does business online (and actually takes money from other people) must, at some point, bite the bullet and choose a credit card processing company – this can be quite an expensive decision.

There are effectively two different ways of going about this; you can either go for the free accounts or the specific merchant accounts.

But what is there to distinguish the two? After all they both allow you to accept a payment from a credit card holder right?

Well yes, they both allow you to accept payments from people with credit cards – but there are some underlying and fundamental differences that you should be aware of.

Lets have a look at merchants accounts (ICann, WorldPay or 2Checkout – just as examples), when you register with one of these guys you will have to provide information relating to your business and prove that you are actually a registered business.

You will also have to pay a setup fee, from personal experience I know that this can be in the order of several hundred dollars, you will also pay a yearly subscription or support fee – again this is typically a couple of hundred dollars a year.

You might think that this is OK – but don’t forget you are also paying a percentage of the transaction value, this can be anything up 4.75%.

From this information alone we can see that for the little guy this is quite a high cost – especially if you’re just starting out and you don’t even know if your product/service is going to take off.

There are also other things that you need to be aware of when looking at professional merchant accounts, for instance 2Checkout will, from time to time try and actually call your customers (a selection of) and verify that the goods have arrived – if they can not do this then they will potentially refund ALL currently held sales.

I mention this as I was made aware of 2CO’s operating policy (this morning) by one of my fellow online marketers – this guy lost $5,000 because 2CO phoned the wrong person and lets face it, once you’ve delivered the products and given a refund how many people are going to say ‘Yes, here are my credit card details again’ – not very likely – and then cancelled the merchants account without so much as saying sorry.

So in other words make sure you read the fine print – there is typically stuff in there which is not really in your interest.

Anyway, that’s enough about merchant accounts, now lets consider the free accounts – and the first thing to be aware of is that there is no such thing as ‘free’. With the free accounts you typically don’t pay a setup charge or even a yearly charge – you do however pay a percentage of the transaction value, this can be anything from 1.5% up to 4%.

The two main suppliers of free accounts are PayPal and StormPay. It should be noted that although they both provide pretty identical services there are advantages and disadvantages associated with each of them.

For example, StormPay typically charge slightly more per transaction then PayPal – however PayPal charge more to get your money out then StormPay. PayPal is also VERY quick to respond to allegations of foul play (whether it exists or not) and typically very slow to do anything about it (besides locking your account).

PayPal also has some bizarre habits when it comes to money laundering rules, for instance my younger brother plays on Ebay and makes a few dollars here and there – nothing suspicious about that right (especially seeing as Ebay owns PayPal) but for some reason when his balance went past $50 they locked his account for a couple of weeks and sent him mails requesting proof of ID and wanting an explanation of where the money had come from.

No such problems with Storm pay, they validate you when you sign up by effectively linking you to your credit card to your address – any suspicious transactions are followed on a more gentlemanly basis. As of the time of writing I have not heard of anyone using Storm Pay having their account locked for questionable reasons.

In terms of signing up for the service StormPay is by far the quickest and in terms of market saturation is also on the up and up (PayPal is the established norm but StormPay is catching up quickly).

One thing to remember no matter which type of payment processor you use is that if a customer demands a refund 9 times out of 10 they’re going to get it – unless you can satisfy your processor that you have done everything that they require (so for PayPal if you’re sending tangible goods you need proof of postage that identifies what you’ve sent and in the case of allegations of ‘no delivery’ proof that it has been received – and then there’s still no guarantee that they’ll rule in your favor).

One important distinction between payment processors will relate to geography, i.e. where in the world they accept payments from. Most of the free services do not accept payments from central Africa or south East Asia, this is purely to do with level of fraud (Just think Nigeria).

To summarize, for the brand new business who has little or no client base and has no idea if their offering is going to be picked up by the market it is better to start with a free account, my personal recommendation being Storm Pay. If your business later grows and requires specific merchant account functionality then you can always upgrade or pick one from the market.

Everyday, thousands of new surfers open their browsers for the first time, it is confusing in the beginning, but if you have some good advices in the early beginning, you can surf easier and faster with a friendly browser…

Tip 1: Surf in security.
The first action that you will do if you are new to the net is to open your browser to surf. If you have a PC, like most of the Internet population. You will have Internet explorer installed in your computer, but it is not the best browser available on the net, and it is in fact limited. You may think that it is hard to surf on Internet.
When you will discover Mozilla Firefox, you will be even more happy to surf on Internet, for sure.
One of the first reason you should use Firefox is the integrated Firewall, which protect you against spyware and other adawares.

Tip 2: No need to tape http://www.—.com all the time.
The second reason to choose Firefox is that you save time; for instance, when you went on ebay.com yesterday, you wrote: http://www.ebay.com with Firefox, you just tape “e” in the address bar of your browser, then http://www.ebay.com will appear in the drop down menu, it’s like magic, and it’s fun too.

Tip 3: See all your pages in only one window.
I really love this one; you can surf in tab. That is really powerful.
For instance, with Internet Explorer, whenever you click on a link, you have 2 choice: open the page in the same window, or open it in a new window. Firefox enable you to open several pages in one window.
Let’s explain: you are now looking yahoo.com, and you want to see the news, you just right click on the link, select open in a new tab, and you have now two pages in only one window. To switch between your pages, you just need to click on anyone of the page you want to look in, all that in the same window. You can open fifteen windows in one time if you want.
Better, you can bookmark(in Internet explorer, bookmark is favorites) a tab, and open it later. It is a very intelligent way of surfing. It is very efficient when you are doing some researches on a subject, on google for example.

Tip 4: All your downloads at the same place.
The fourth reason to choose Firefox is that when you download a file on your computer, sometimes, you want to open it, but you face a problem: Where did you save that file? With Firefox, just click on tools, and then you select download, and a pop up window appear. You just scroll to find your program. It will save you time and a lot of headaches.
However, it is recommended, for the first time, to save your download on your desktop, then after save your file in the folder you choose. You can download firefox for Free. You just type firefox in google.com and you’re done.

Tip 5: Don’t forget a good anti virus,
While you surf on Internet, some hijackers will attempt to damage your computer, by introducing a virus in it. If you don’t take your precaution, you may loose all that is stored in your hard disk. You can download AVG, which is excellent at download.com.

There is a lot to learn when you start on Internet, but take your time. And everything will go smoothly.
